Eadweard Muybridge, a Kingston-born photographer, is best known for his instantaneous sequential photography of animals and humans in motion, as well as his moving image projection. His pioneering work has not only influenced film, animation and the visual arts, but has also made a lasting impact on many other aspects of our culture. In 1904, Muybridge bequeathed an extensive collection of his life’s work to Kingston Museum. The museum holds one of the largest and most significant Muybridge collections in the world.

This website provides information about Muybridge’s life, work and legacy, preserved and presented at Kingston Museum and beyond. It also features the highlights and online catalogue of the museum’s Muybridge Collection.
